Program Overview

This landmark program educates people about the benefits of a whole foods and plant-based diet to support substance abuse recovery. Substance abuse ravages the body and psyche, and an essential step in recovery from substance abuse is restoring physical and mental health through good nutrition.

Self Esteem Boston’s Keeping It Real Education Program offers participants the opportunity to learn about the health benefits of a whole foods plant-based diet that can lead to the well-being of clients in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction, and supports clients to take charge of their diet, health and well-being.

A person’s ability to stop using drugs and alcohol would be enhanced if the person’s diet helps the body to heal from addiction. The program offers information on addressing the self-care and nutritional needs of recovering addicts that are important for the body’s recovery to health, and avoidance of foods that can act as triggers to substance abuse relapse.
